First and foremost, only you can determine the best Kit Kat flavors, regardless of our rankings! However, when it comes to online sales data, reviews, and ratings, we can clearly see the best flavors according to most consumers! As for my personal opinion, I’ve tried every Kit Kat listed below, and although my personal rankings would look much different, the facts are in the numbers. For example, Chocolate Frosted Donut ranked #9, but it’s my 3rd favorite Kit Kat flavor, but data suggest I’m alone in my opinion, which is why I’m sticking to the facts only!
Produced by Hershey in the United States and by Nestlé in all other countries, Kit Kat generates over $2.1 billion in annual revenue, making it the 5th best-selling candy bar in the US. Regarding flavor, Kit Kat often releases new limited-edition flavors, but even now and then, they drop a new permanent flavor. Our rankings below highlight the current flavors available at the time these rankings were published. As new flavors emerge, we’ll update our content and rankings if necessary. Otherwise, the newest flavor will likely rank last as it will most likely have the least sales data available.
1. Milk Chocolate Kit Kat
Launched in 1935 by Rowntree’s in the UK, it later became an American favorite after its 1970 debut in the United States. Known for its crispy wafer sticks coated in smooth milk chocolate, balancing texture and flavor, Kit Kat Milk Chocolate is the original flavor and, according to all data, the best-selling! Available in standard, mini, and king size, it’s the brand’s most iconic flavor worldwide, including here at Candy Retailer!
2. Birthday Cake Kit Kat
Introduced in April 2020 as a limited-edition flavor, it features crispy wafers coated in white vanilla crème with colorful sprinkles, just as you’d expect. As the second-best-selling Kit Kat flavor, it demonstrates that all limited-time-only products have a chance to become a permanent flavor, which is clearly the case with Kit Kat Birthday Cake. 3. Mint Dark Chocolate Kit Kat
Released in December 2019 as part of the Kit Kat DUOS line, this option features mint-flavored crème with dark chocolate over crispy wafers. According to our data, this is the 3rd best Kit Kat flavor produced and sold in the United States, which just goes to show how many people really love mint chocolate candy! Initially, I was a little hesitant to try this one because I’m not a fan of the flavor, but I’m glad I did; otherwise, I’d be missing out on something truly extraordinary!
4. Vanilla Kit Kat
Added to the Kit Kat lineup in September 2024 as a permanent flavor, featuring crispy wafers coated in vanilla-flavored white crème. I tried this flavor the same week it was released and instantly knew it would be a best seller. Not even a year later, and to no surprise, Kit Kat Vanilla is already the fourth best-selling flavor! However, I was surprised it took the brand nearly 90 years to make a vanilla-flavored Kit Kat, but better late than never!
5. Dark Chocolate Kit Kat
Officially hitting shelves nationwide in 2010, Kit Kat Dark Chocolate has become the 5th best-selling flavor produced by this brand. Initially released as a limited-edition flavor, it quickly caught on and gained support from fans across the country and beyond. Like vanilla, this is another flavor I was surprised it took so long to produce, but at least it happened in our lifetime! As a fan of dark chocolate candy bars, this one is easily my second-favorite Kit Kat flavor!
6. Lemon Crisp Kit Kat
Launched in 2020 as a limited-edition flavor, this rare candy bar flavor features four crispy wafers coated in lemon-flavored white crème. It’s been five years since its debut, meaning it’s safe to say that it’s no longer a limited-time-only flavor! Backed by popular demand, it’s easily the 6th best-selling Kit Kat flavor in the United States. I’m not much of a fan of lemon-flavored anything, so I only tried it once, and it reminded me of a lemon cream cookie; not for me!
7. Churro Kit Kat
Introduced in June 2023 as a limited-edition summer flavor, it features crispy wafers coated in churro-flavored crème with cinnamon notes. Available in standard and king sizes, it was launched nationwide in the US for National Churro Day. Exactly two years later, it’s still available and no longer marketed as a limited-time-only flavor, proving that more people love this flavor than not. I tried it a few times, and think it’s different, but still delicious in its own special way!
8. Ghost Toast Kit Kat
Released in fall 2024 as a limited-edition Halloween flavor, it features crispy wafers coated in cinnamon toast-flavored crème. Honestly, I thought this flavor would only be around for Halloween, but almost a year later, it’s still available, so people must really love this Kit Kat flavor. I know I do! Yes, it’s different, but that’s what I like about it, and I hope it stays around for many more years! However, it’s still marketed as a limited-edition flavor, so this one really might be limited.
9. Chocolate Frosted Donut Kit Kat
Launched as a permanent flavor on November 17, 2023, Kit Kat Chocolate Frosted Donut features crispy wafers coated in donut-flavored crème and milk chocolate. As for its terrible ranking, I think it’s due to poor marketing. However, I’m here to let you know, this is one of the best Kit Kat flavors ever made! In fact, it’s my second favorite Kit Kat after the original, but that’s only my opinion. If you have tried it yet, I highly recommend it.
10. Pink Lemonade Kit Kat
Introduced in May 2024 as a limited-edition summer flavor, it features crispy wafers coated in pink lemonade-flavored crème with strawberry hints. Unlike Chocolate Frosted Donut Kit Kat and other limited-time-only flavors, this one was heavily marketed, but according to many online reviews and ratings, it’s not all that good. I tried it once, and I couldn’t agree more with the general public; it’s not a keeper, although you might love it.
11. Raspberry Creme Kit Kat
Launched in 2020 as a limited-edition flavor, this one is coated in raspberry-flavored white crème and was initially marketed as a Valentine’s Day candy flavor. I tried it once, and that was all ever needed. In addition to my opinion, most Americans would agree, as it’s the lowest-rated Kit Kat flavor currently available today! How it survived five years of a public beatdown, I will never know or understand. Perhaps Kit Kat thinks that one day we’ll love, but I don’t think so! What do you think?
