PEZ candy is an Austrian-based brand that first launched in 1927, but didn’t reach the US until 1952. Since then, it has become one of the most iconic candy brands known and loved by almost every American, including myself. I’m not sure when I first tried them, as I was too young to remember, although it was sometime in the early 1980s. Over the years, I’ve tried every PEZ flavor that ever came out, including limited-edition flavors, such as chocolate, banana, and coffee, which I wasn’t a fan of any of those, but once Sour PEZ candies came out in 2002, that changed everything, especially my top 10 list of favorite PEZ flavors!
With over 40 years of experience eating PEZ candy, I’ve tried enough to know which ones are the best. However, my rankings are subjective, as everyone has different preferences; therefore, my list below isn’t intended to rank from best to worst, but to highlight them all, with the hope that you’ll discover something new! Speaking of, I like them all, including raspberry, which is my least favorite, but still good enough to be considered as one of the best PEZ flavors ever made! As for my first two favorites, they were not around when I was a kid, so my list today looks quite different from what it was back then, and it will likely change again as new flavors emerge. So, without further ado, here are my top picks, but let me know yours in the comments below!
1. PEZ Sour Blue Raspberry
I first tried Sour Blue Raspberry PEZ soon after it was released in the early 2000s; since then, it has become my all-time favorite PEZ flavor. Not everyone will agree with this ranking, which is cool, but I’m a sucker for this candy flavor, especially when it’s sour! If you’ve never tried it, I highly recommend giving it a try; I highly doubt you’ll be disappointed.
2. PEZ Sour Watermelon
Securing the #2 spot is easily earned by PEZ Sour Watermelon! Unlike the previous flavor, I usually don’t fall so easily for sour watermelon-flavored candy, but somehow PEZ managed to pull this one off and make me a believer! For me, one PEZ roll is never enough; I need a whole jar! Also, like Sour Blue Raspberry, I can eat these by the handful; no dispenser is ever required.
3. PEZ Cherry
Next up, I have to give it up to my lifelong favorite, PEZ Cherry, a classic that I have loved ever since I was a young buck! In fact, if it weren’t for the introduction of Sour PEZ, this would be ranked #1, and in some ways, it still is, as it’s my favorite non-sour PEZ flavor! Like the previous two flavors, I can eat these by the pound; no PEZ dispenser is required, not for me anyway!
4. PEZ Strawberry
Locking down the #4 spot easily goes to PEZ Strawberry, which was a tough call between this one and Chery, as I love both equally! I’m not sure when I tried it out first, but since it’s an original PEZ flavor, it had to have been sometime in the early 80s. Fast forward to today, and it’s still a favorite of mine! No dispenser is necessary; I can eat these right out of the jar!
5. PEZ Sour Green Apple
Rounding out my top five favorite PEZ flavors, I must acknowledge PEZ Sour Green Apple! I tried these for the first time about 10 years ago, and since then, I’ve had no intention of settling for less. Like the previous four flavors, I can eat these by the handful, as one pill or one roll is never enough! If you love this flavor, too, let me know in the comments below.
6. PEZ Orange
PEZ Orange is another classic that I first tried in the early 80s, as it’s one of the original PEZ flavors that came out decades before I was born. In fact, if it weren’t for the Sour PEZ flavors, this would easily rank in my top five, at #3, to be exact. On a personal note, I love most orange-flavored candy, and this one is no exception; I can eat these by the handful.
7. PEZ Grape
Without a doubt, PEZ Grape is my 7th favorite PEZ flavor, although once upon a time it was my 4th, but then Sour PEZ came out and the rest was history! I love grape candy, and this one checks off all the boxes, as it has a true grape flavor, not like some grape-flavored candies that taste artificial. I can eat them by the handful; one roll is never enough for me! How about you?
8. PEZ Lemon
PEZ Lemon candy is perhaps the freshest-tasting of them all, and is my 8th favorite PEZ flavor, although it used to be 5th, but as you know by now, I have a lovejones for Sour PEZ, so this one fell a few positions to where it stands today! As expected, I can eat these all day long; no PEZ candy dispenser is required. If you love this flavor, where does it rank on your personal list?
9. PEZ Sour Pineapple
There are so many things I can say about PEZ Pineapple, but I’ll keep it short and sweet. In my opinion, these taste excellent, just as you’d expect; however, I think I would like them a little more if they were a little less sour and had more pineapple flavor. In other words, I think they’re a little on the light side, which isn’t a bad thing; I just wish they had a little more pineapple flavor!
10. PEZ Raspberry
Lastly, I must give it up for PEZ Raspberry! This is my least favorite PEZ flavor, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like it; I do, just not as much as I like the others. Unlike the previous flavor, which I thought was too soft, I think this one is too strong and not very sweet. You can usually find most PEZ candy rolls at most places where candy is sold, but not always in all flavors, and sometimes only if you purchase a PEZ dispenser.
