Dum Dums
Dum Dums, introduced in 1924 by the Akron Candy Company in Bellevue, Ohio, are small, spherical lollipops known for their many flavors. The name "Dum Dums" was chosen for its simplicity, making it easy for children to say and remember. In 1953, Spangler Candy Company acquired Dum Dums and relocated production to Bryan, Ohio, where they continue to be manufactured today.
Initially, Dum Dums were available in seven flavors: lemon, lime, orange, coconut pineapple, cherry, grape, and butterscotch. Over the years, the flavor lineup has expanded to include options like Blu Raspberry, introduced in 1995, and the Mystery Flavor, added in 2001. The Mystery Flavor is created by combining the end of one batch with the beginning of another, resulting in a unique and unpredictable taste.
Today, Dum Dums are made in the USA and distributed nationwide. They are often given out at banks, doctor’s offices, and during Halloween, maintaining their status as a beloved candy sucker loved by everyone. The brand’s commitment to quality and variety has forever solidified its place in American candy history!
