I’ve been a lifelong fan of M&M’s since I first tried them in the early 1980s. Since then, I’ve seen many flavors come and go, and every time they release a new one, I’m usually one of the first people in America to try them! Speaking of, I’ve tried all currently available flavors ranked below, include countless discontinued M&M flavors, such as Dulce de Leche, Fudge Brownie, Toffee Peanut, Strawberried Peanut Butter, White Chocolate Candy Corn, and Jalapeño Peanut, which were discontinued just a few months after releasing, thank goodness, those were awful tasting, and the worst M&M’s I ever tasted.

M&M Flavors and Rankings

As for my rankings of the best M&M flavors available today, they are based solely on my personal experiences and opinions. I actually like them, except for one or two, which were still ok, but definitely not my favorite. However, you might think they’re the best M&M’s flavor ever released and that I’m totally out of my mind, which is cool, but we like what we like. That said, I invite you to share your favorite M&M’s, whether they are currently available or discontinued. My rankings are about discovery, finding something new, and sharing my experiences with you, not to say, “don’t try this because I don’t like it,” but the complete opposite. So, without further ado, let’s find your next favorite M&M’s flavor. There were 11 at the time this article was published.

1. Original M&M’s

Original M&M’s are my all-time favorite, the flavor that started it all for me back in the early 1980s; they’re simple, crunchy, chocolatey, and pair perfectly with just about anything. I’ve poured them over ice cream, mixed them into popcorn at the movies, and even eaten them with potato chips, and they never miss. No matter how many new flavors come out, this one is the benchmark. I’ve tried countless candies over the years, but I still get in the mood for Original M&M’s. If I had to pick one timeless flavor to stick with forever, these would be the ones.

2. Peanut Butter M&M’s

Peanut Butter M&M’s are easily my second favorite, although I actually buy them more often than the Original. The mix of peanut butter and chocolate is smooth, balanced, and tastes like it was always meant to be. I can easily smash an entire bag without even thinking about it. Over the years, I’ve taken them on road trips, kept them at my desk, and even snuck them into the movies. While I rank them at #2, they could just as easily hold the top spot; however, there can only be one #1, but Peanut Butter M&M’s are right up here at the top of the stack.

3. Peanut M&M’s

Peanut M&M’s are a staple for me, and I still buy them often. The crunch of the peanut with the smooth chocolate is simple but always works. They’re big enough to count as a snack on their own, and they’re easy to eat by the handful. I’ve had them at the movies, on road trips, and at home, and they never lose their place in the rotation. No matter how many other flavors I try, Peanut M&M’s always stay near the top of my list because they’re consistent, reliable, and just taste right every single time.

4. Almond M&M’s

Almond M&M’s came around in the early ’90s, but I didn’t start buying them regularly until later. Once I did, I realized how underrated they are. The almond adds a solid crunch that works perfectly with the chocolate shell, and the taste is lighter compared to the Peanut or Peanut Butter versions. They’re easy to snack on without feeling overwhelmed by sweetness. I’ve eaten them at work, on long drives, and shared them with friends, and they always hit the spot. Almond M&M’s might not get the spotlight, but to me, they deserve more respect because they’re consistently good.

5. Dark Chocolate M&M’s

Dark Chocolate M&M’s showed up in 2005, and they immediately caught my attention. The taste was richer, deeper, and less sweet than the original, which made them stand out. I remember buying a bag for the first time and thinking they finally made an M&M that worked for people who wanted something a little different. I’ve eaten them in both small packs and large sharing bags, and they’ve always been dependable. They’ve stuck around for nearly two decades, and I still keep them in rotation. For me, Dark Chocolate M&M’s have proven themselves as one of the strongest long-term flavors.

6. Dark Chocolate Peanut M&M’s

Dark Chocolate Peanut M&M’s were first released in 2005, around the same time as the regular Dark Chocolate version. They were supposed to be a limited run, but fans liked them so much that Mars kept them around permanently. Nearly 20 years later, they’re still going strong. The salty peanut crunch mixed with darker chocolate makes for a stronger, more balanced taste than the original Peanut version. I was sold on them right away, and I still think they were one of the smartest releases Mars ever made. Whenever I want something familiar with more depth, these are the ones I grab.

7. Pretzel M&M’s

Pretzel M&M’s launched in 2010, and I remember being curious the first time I saw them. I tried a bag and immediately liked the crunchy pretzel inside the chocolate shell. The mix of salty and sweet works perfectly, and the texture is something no other M&M has. They’re light enough that I can eat a big handful without slowing down, but the taste still stands out every time. Over the years, I’ve gone through numerous bags, and they remain one of the most unique flavors. Pretzel M&M’s earned their permanent spot, and I’d miss them if they disappeared.

8. Cookies & Creme M&M’s

Cookies & Creme M&M’s are one of the newest flavors, released in August 2025. As soon as I saw them, I grabbed a bag to test them out. They have a creamy center with small cookie bits that add crunch, and the taste is solid. For me, it’s not an everyday candy, but more of a once-in-a-while choice when I want to mix things up. The chocolate shell still keeps it familiar, but the filling makes it different from the core lineup. My first bag disappeared quickly, and while they won’t replace my favorites, I’d definitely buy them again in the right mood.

9. Peanut Butter & Jelly M&M’s

Peanut Butter & Jelly M&M’s also launched in 2025, and I had high hopes for them. The idea sounded perfect, but once I tried them, the taste didn’t quite hit the way I expected. The peanut butter side was fine, but the jelly flavor felt a little off, and they didn’t blend together as well as I hoped. My son, however, loved them instantly and wanted more, which shows they hit for some people. Personally, I won’t go back to them, but I’d still buy them for him anytime. Some M&M’s are made for specific fans, and this one fits that category.

10. Caramel M&M’s

Caramel M&M’s came out in 2024, and while I enjoy caramel in general, this version didn’t work as well for me. The taste was fine, but the texture inside the candy shell felt a little strange. I ate a handful, but the bag didn’t keep my attention like other flavors do. My wife, though, loves them and can eat the entire bag without hesitation, so I know they’ve got plenty of fans. They just aren’t for me. Still, I respect the attempt because M&M’s tried something new, and the fact that they’re still around shows a lot of people enjoy them regularly.

11. Milk Chocolate Pumpkin Pie M&M’s

Pumpkin Pie M&M’s first came out in 2024 as a seasonal flavor, and of course, I had to try them. The pumpkin spice flavor was strong, and I thought it clashed slightly with the chocolate. I didn’t finish the bag, but my wife did because she loves anything with pumpkin spice. That sums it up perfectly: these are made for pumpkin spice fans. If that’s you, you’ll probably enjoy them, and if not, you’ll probably react the way I did. I wouldn’t go back for another bag, but I’m glad I tried them once just to see what they were about.

Where to Buy All M&M Flavors Online

As most can confirm, you can buy M&M’s from just about anywhere candy is sold, especially here at Candy Retailer, where we carry them all, including almost every candy brand you can think of, as well as snacks! However, when it comes to M&M flavors, they’re not always easy to find. Sure, the local 7-Eleven has some, but do they carry all 11 flavors? Probably not. The same is true with most gas stations; they all sell M&M’s, but never all flavors, especially my favorite peanut butter one, which you’d think would be everywhere, like Original and Peanuts. That said, I recommend checking us out first; we even have bulk M&M’s by the pound, perfect for filling candy jars and dishes. So, before you just settle for anything, consider Candy Retailer first; you’ll be glad you did.
