According to public records, Tootsie Roll Industries purchased the patent from Mr. Tidwell in 1973, and soon after, the Blow Pop was launched in the US for the first time! 

Original flavors included strawberry, grape, cherry, watermelon, and sour apple, which was round and actually shaped like a real apple!
