Haribo Opens New Facility and Releases More Flavors

Haribo has officially launched its inaugural gummi candy production line in the United States in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. The cutting-edge facility was established to cater to American consumers’ increasing appetite for Haribo’s gummi candies. The brand offers a diverse range of over two dozen gummi products in the U.S.; globally, the portfolio extends to more than 1,200 different treats.

Currently, the sprawling 500,000-square-foot plant is geared towards churning out Haribo’s signature Goldbears, with future plans to diversify the product line. The factory currently employs close to 200 staff members and has the capacity to produce hundreds of tons of Goldbears.

The Pleasant Prairie location is Haribo’s 16th global manufacturing site and contributes to the company’s daily production of over 160 million Goldbears. The facility is part of a phased development plan, with the initial stage comprising the manufacturing unit, an office building, and a storage area.

Subsequent phases will introduce advanced technology, increased production capabilities, and an additional workforce to further Haribo’s mission of spreading joy. In line with food safety guidelines and to ensure the well-being of its employees, consumers, and partners, Haribo has decided not to offer public tours of the facility at this time.

Haribo Is Here to Stay

Hakan Zor, Haribo of America’s Chief Production Officer, who has been with the company for over two decades, expressed his pride in the team’s efforts. “We’ve meticulously planned every aspect, from top-notch equipment to premium ingredients. The U.S. production marks an exhilarating new chapter in Haribo’s journey,” he said.

The company selected Pleasant Prairie for its U.S. operations due to the community’s shared values of quality, trust, and independence, as well as the strong work ethic of the local population. The plant has already generated numerous job opportunities and plans to create even more as it expands. Haribo is also actively involved in community outreach, collaborating with local educational institutions like the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Carthage College, and Gateway Technical College to offer scholarships and internships.

Haribo of America’s Chief Financial Officer Wes Saber emphasized the company’s long-term commitment to the community. “We’re here to stay and are grateful for our warm reception. Our partnerships aim to provide quality education and drive economic growth in Southeast Wisconsin,” he said.

New Seasonal Offering

In a parallel development, Haribo is spicing up its product line with the introduction of Wild Berry Goldbears, produced in Germany. These new gummies will be available across U.S. stores just in time for the summer season. The Wild Berry Goldbears feature the classic bear shape but come in various berry flavors such as Blueberry, Wild Cherry, Strawberry, Raspberry, & Wildberry.

Haribo of America’s Chief Commercial Officer Rick LaBerge said, “Our consumers love the unique texture and flavors we offer. The Wild Berry Goldbears is our latest innovation, perfect for summer indulgence. As we commence U.S. production, we’re excited about the prospect of introducing more such innovative treats in the future.”

Haribo is thrilled to inaugurate its new U.S. facility and remains committed to delivering high-quality gummy candies that bring smiles and joy to people every day.
