However, the brand wasn’t launched in the United States until 1967, although they were known as M&M’s Fruit Chewies at the time! Two years later, the company officially changed its brand name to Starburst. 

Starburst’s original flavors, also known as “Original Fruits” are now available in several other varieties including FaveREDs, Tropical, Limited Edition Retro Fruits, Very Berry,  Berries, and Crème, Sour, Strawberry Mix, Fruity Slushies, and Baja California!

The Starburst Name Origin

Starburst was a clever way to express a burst of flavors! Plus, the name was a subliminal salute to America’s position in the race to space! 

In 1998, the original Opal Fruits brand was phased out in the UK. The goal was to unite all countries under one name; Starburst.

A decade later, in 2008, Asda, a supermarket chain in the UK rekindled the original “Opal Fruits” brand name, which actually sold for a limited time. Actually, for a Very Unlimited Time! 

In fact, just a few months later, Mars, Inc. acquired Opal Fruits and retired the name, forever!

Pink Strawberry Starburst Jello Shots are fun, exciting, the talk of any party, and of course, delicious! With only 4 simple ingredients, you can whip up a batch of these shots for everyone! Yeah, they’re that easy to make! 

Pink Strawberry Starburst Jello Shot – 12 Servings

Ingredients: 

• 1 box of Strawberry Jell-O
• 2 0.25oz packages of gelatin (unflavored)
• 1 cup of Vodka
• 1 cup of water
• 1 cup of cool whip
• 12 pink Starburst candies

Instructions: 

• In a large bowl mix gelatin and Vodka and let sit for 5 minutes. 
• Now boil, add Vodka, mix in the box of Strawberry Jell-O, and stir well. 
• Allow cooling in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. 
• Serve in 2oz shot glasses and garnish with a pink Starburst. Enjoy. 

Jell-O shots can last up to five days when placed in the refrigerator, making them an excellent option for weekend get-togethers. Although they’re so fast and easy to make, you can just wait to make them on the same night as your get-together!
