Mars is one of the biggest candy makers in the world, and they’ve just announced a new $2 billion investment in its US manufacturing operations through 2026. This expansion includes a major new facility for Nature’s Bakery in Salt Lake City, Utah. The new site opens this week and will produce up to one billion bars annually. The move strengthens the brand’s footprint in the United States, where 94% of its products are already made locally.

Here at Candy Retailer, our Mars candy section is already one of the largest in the country. We carry all the major brands under the Mars umbrella, including Twix, Snickers, Milky Way, 3 Musketeers, M&M’s, and Dove Chocolate. With this new investment, we expect an exciting surge of new flavors, formats, and launches across their entire lineup. Mars has been steadily growing, and this next phase is expected to bring a lot more variety to store shelves.

The expansion also aligns with the brand’s larger push to increase domestic production. In the last five years, the company has already poured over $6 billion into US manufacturing. This latest phase supports its candy products and accelerates growth for snack lines like Nature’s Bakery (my review on Grub Rank). The new Utah facility alone is expected to create more than 230 new jobs and further boost production capacity for both sweet and snack categories.

With Mars ramping up investment, we’re preparing for a wave of new candy and snack drops, and we’ll be among the first to get our hands on them. If you’re not already on our email list, now’s the time to sign up. We send out announcements twice a week, so you’ll always be in the loop when new Mars products hit our shelves. Stay informed and be the first to grab what’s next in candy.
